1950 RAM JET JACKET: The "Ramjet" in the model name refers to a type of jet engine. While it is now applied to missile propulsion, research into its practical use intensified in the 1950s. At the dawn of a new era, during the glamorous period of space development, the "Ramjet Jacket" was commercialized. The embroidered rocket mark on the woven name at the neck reflects the mood of the time. It shares the same set-in sleeve as the Drizzler, giving a clean look reminiscent of classic MacGregor. However, the collar and cuffs feature horizontal rubber rib knit, and the lining is quilted. In fact, the prototype of this "Ramjet Jacket" originates from the flight jacket MacGregor developed in 1940 for cold weather. For example, the large front slider, designed for ease of operation even when wearing gloves, retains a remnant of the original development.
The legendary actor James Dean wore the Anti-Freeze Jacket in the film "Rebel Without a Cause", which was released.
Launched an advertising collaboration with renowned fashion illustrator Rene Gruau.
Opened a showroom at 666 Fifth Avenue, New York, as McGREGOR-DONIGER Inc., attracting attention as Fashion Avenue.
Full-scale sales begin in Japan.
1964 BUDGE ACE JACKET: In 1938, Don Budge became the first player to win the Grand Slam in a single year, and in 1964 he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. MacLea has been releasing original collections bearing his name since the 1960s. Born in the UK, where he was at the forefront of the fashion industry, founder David D. Doniger, who later worked as a textile consultant for the U.S. government after importing and selling golf socks and Nikka Buckers, created sportswear that has been praised by influential magazines such as Esquire for its sporty and clean aesthetic since MacLea's inception. Therefore, it is inevitable that these two celebrated figures would collaborate. The tennis jacket in the photo was designed by Budge and features the "MacLea Budge Dragon" line icon on the chest.
Celebrating the brand's 100th anniversary.
