Don Luis Cartagena Nieves founds the Betances Pharmacy on Betances Street in the town of Caguas.
Luis Cartagena, Jr. joins the family business and begins to offer drug distribution services to other pharmacies in Caguas and neighboring towns.
The Cartagena family acquired new facilities located in Reparto Industrial Cartagena, in Caguas where they had a space of 10,000 square feet due to accelerated growth and the need for more space.
They incorporate the first computerized systems to streamline tasks such as order taking and billing.
On the 30th anniversary, they expanded the space of the facility to 40,000 square feet and a scanning system was installed to facilitate product shipments.
They expanded storage areas, expanded routes, and increased the number of daily deliveries, offering a diversified range of new products. In addition, storage and logistics services were incorporated. Betances Pharmacy joins Optisource, the largest purchasing group of generic products in the United States.
Betances Pharmacy is acquired by its current owner, Mr. Raúl Rodríguez Font, CPA.
They launch the Quality Choice private label product line with a wide variety of high-quality health and personal care products at affordable prices.
Betances Pharmacy creates an alliance with Pharmacy First, a company that offers community pharmacies contracting programs with medical plans and reconciliation.
Betances Pharmacy inaugurates its new Distribution Center and Central Offices with more than 80,000 square feet.
Betances Pharmacy celebrates its 50th Anniversary.
Droguería Betances is recognized as the company in position number 10 of the local companies with the highest growth in sales. It also ranked No. 4 among the 63 local companies in the distribution category, according to the 2014 Caribbean Business Top 400 Locally Owned Companies publication.
Launch of the advertising campaign, Bringing Health to all of Puerto Rico on radio, press, and television.
