沿革
The first-generation president, Keichiro Takahara, established a building materials sales company called Taisei Chemical in Kawanoe City, Ehime Prefecture (now: Shikoku Chuo City), which is the predecessor of 'Unicharm'.
In 1963, in Japan, feminine hygiene products were placed in the least conspicuous part of drugstores. President Takahara discovered during a visit to the United States that in large supermarkets in the US, feminine hygiene products were proudly displayed on shelves. This was a big shock to him and made him determined to produce feminine hygiene products in Japan. After returning to Japan, President Takahara immediately put his idea into practice, transforming from the building materials industry to start manufacturing and selling feminine hygiene products. Bringing Japanese feminine hygiene products from the 'dark' to the 'light'.
1974年，尤妮佳前身的“大成化工”正式更名为“Unicharm（尤妮佳）株式会社”。
In December 1995, Unicharm entered the Chinese mainland market, with its headquarters in Shanghai. Currently, Unicharm has established branches in Beijing, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Shenyang, Chengdu, Jinan, and Xi'an.
