Originally founded as a joint venture company in 1986 between Sango Co., Ltd. headquartered in Nagoya, Japan and Arvin Industries based in the US.
Original plant opened in 1988 with additional plants opened in 1995, 2002, 2007, 2011, 2013, and 2015 in US and Canada.
Expanded original product line of exhaust assemblies in 1991 to include stampings, and later to include door impact beams and catalytic converters.
Joint venture dissolved in 2010. ASI became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sango Co., Ltd.
Purchased land in 2015 to construct new plant in Mexico.
Approved construction in 2016 for a new state-of-the-art R&D center in Detroit, MI.
