沿革

12 EVENTS

Founded in 1980 with the purpose of building commercial vessels, DEARSAN Shipyard quickly became a significant player in Türkiye’s shipbuilding industry. Initially focusing on commercial ship projects, the shipyard gradually shifted towards military shipbuilding thanks to the experience it gained over time, its engineering strength and its modern production infrastructure, ultimately becoming one of the leading private shipyards in the defence industry.

In 2007, DEARSAN won the first military ship tender issued by the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) and launched the Tuzla Class Patrol Boats Project, consisting of 16 vessels, with completely in-house design and production capabilities. These platforms, designed to meet the needs of the Turkish Navy, marked the most significant step taken by DEARSAN in military shipbuilding and, by setting a precedent among private sector shipyards, demonstrated Türkiye’s strength in the defence industry. Equipped with modern sensor and weapon systems, the Tuzla Class Patrol Boats became a major milestone representing the success of DEARSAN engineering on both national and international scales.

Within the scope of the Tuzla Class Patrol Boats Project, DEARSAN began delivering the vessels in 2011 and successfully completed the delivery of all 16 boats by the end of 2015.

The Turkmenistan Project, which began in 2012, became one of DEARSAN’s most significant steps on the international stage.

successfully completed the delivery of all 16 boats by the end of 2015.

With the successful completion of the delivery of all these platforms in 2018, DEARSAN secured a strong international position not only through naval vessel exports but also through its contribution to the maritime infrastructure of a friendly and allied nation.

The contract for two OPV 76 Offshore Patrol Vessels signed with Nigeria in 2021 marked a historic step as DEARSAN’s first naval export to the African continent.

A 92-meter Corvette-class vessel, the flagship of the Turkmenistan Navy and considered a light frigate due to its weapons, sensor configuration and installed systems, was fully designed in-house by DEARSAN and constructed in Turkmenistan before being successfully delivered. This vessel holds particular significance as it is the first Corvette of its class to be exported. The ship was successfully delivered in 2022.

In 2023, the firing tests of the SALVO Armed Unmanned Surface Vehicle (AUSV), developed by DEARSAN, were successfully completed.

At the Defence Industry Executive Committee meeting held on 3 January 2024, the consortium led by DEARSAN was selected as the Contractor for the Offshore Patrol Vessel Project consisting of four (4) vessels with the MİLGEM ADA Class hull.

At the same meeting, DEARSAN was also selected as the shipyard to build the New Generation Mine Hunting Vessel, a platform that requires extremely high-level technology to construct and for which only a few countries in the world possess such capability. DEARSAN will be the first shipyard in Türkiye to design and build this high-technology vessel domestically. A contract has been signed with the Presidency of Defence Industries of Türkiye within the scope of the project, and the shipbuilding process is ongoing.

SALVO SİDA, the armed unmanned surface vehicle constructed under the contract signed with the Presidency of Defence Industries in 2023, successfully completed its acceptance tests on 28 August 2025 and was delivered to the Turkish Naval Forces Command.
