平田漁網商店として、創業。桑名藩領出身で海運業者を営んでいた平田佐次郎は魚介類の豊富な伊勢湾で漁業が盛んであった富洲原地区の漁具の需要を当て込み、漁網の製造と販売を行う「平田漁網商店」を1868年（慶応4年）に創業した。これがUNIVA・Oakホールディングスの前身となる。

In 1949, the company was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the Osaka Securities Exchange, and the Nagoya Stock Exchange.

1987年（昭和62年）には三重県四日市市から東京都中央区築地に本社を移転。社名も「ヒラボウ」に変更する。

In 1987, the company relocated its headquarters from Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture to Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. The company name was also changed to “Hirabou.”

In 2001, the firm entered the investment business and began providing financial support for listed companies and business restructuring support.

In 2005, the company relocated its headquarters to Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo, and accelerated its investment banking business, including corporate acquisitions, investments in listed companies, and IPO investments.

In 2006, the company changed its name to Oak Capital Co., Ltd. and became a full-fledged independent investment bank, providing support for fundraising by underwriting equity financing for listed companies, as well as support and advice on business strategies, including M&A, in line with corporate growth strategies.

In June 2021, we will shift from investment banking to “value co-creation business. The company will shift to a management structure that will enable it to grow as a group while generating stable earnings.

In October 2023, the company name will be changed to UNIVA Oak Holdings, in line with the philosophy of “Unite the Values”.
