The Miyajima Aquarium Joint Venture has been chosen as the designated manager of Miyajima Aquarium, and discussions will be held to conclude a basic agreement in the future. The joint venture has a track record of operating multiple aquariums, promotes environmental conservation and cultural education, and aims to create a next-generation aquarium in collaboration with the local community.
On August 1, 2026, Aquament Co., Ltd. signed memorandums of understanding for international exchange and cooperation with Taiwan's National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium and Taichung Aquarium. Based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit, the agreements establish a framework for cooperation in marine life conservation and breeding and aquarium operations. Drawing on its experience with next-generation aquariums, Aquament plans to improve marine education and exhibition technologies through staff exchanges and knowledge sharing.
Theater-style aquarium átoa, operated by Aquament Co., Ltd., welcomed its three-millionth visitor on July 7, 2026. A commemorative ceremony and gift presentation were held on the aquarium's fourth anniversary plus eight months and nine days. The second-floor “ELEMENTS: Forest of Spirits” is scheduled to reopen after renovation on July 11.
On May 17, 2026, Shikoku Aquarium welcomed its four-millionth visitor and held a commemorative ceremony, presenting the visitor with an original plush toy set. Since March 2026, the special exhibition “Japanese Otter Search Headquarters” has been on view. The aquarium aims to continue sharing the appeal of Shikoku.
Aquament Co., Ltd. will end its contracted management and operation of Smart Aquarium Shizuoka on March 31, 2026. From April 1 onward, the facility is expected to continue operating under Matsuzakaya Shizuoka and a new operator.
Hiroshima Motomachi Aquarium, planned and developed with the involvement of Aquament Co., Ltd., which also manages and operates the facility, opened on October 31, 2025. At the opening ceremony, Director Fumihiro Sato gave remarks. Guests included the head of NTT Urban Development's Chugoku Branch, a senior executive of the Hiroshima City Greenery and Wildlife Association, and the director of Hiroshima City's Civic Affairs Bureau. Despite the rain, many visitors came on opening day. The company said it aims to make the aquarium a beloved destination.
(Public Foundation) The Hiroshima City Green Living Things Association and Aquament Co., Ltd. have signed an agreement on facility cooperation to promote the development of natural history and regional revitalization through the exhibition, education, and research of animals and plants. Both companies plan to increase the utilization rate of their managed facilities and improve visitor satisfaction.
A table outlines planned exhibits and themes at Hiroshima Motomachi Aquarium. “Marine Note: A Scene of Diversity” will feature marine life such as moon jellyfish, garden eels, and porcupinefish to evoke the sensation of drifting through an underwater world. “Coral: A Scene of Color” will use artwork inspired by coral shapes and colors and include interactive areas such as a pearl-opening experience.
Aquament Co., Ltd. will relocate its head office on August 1, 2025, to 3-1-7 Isobedori, Chuo-ku, Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture. Business operations at the new office will also begin on August 1. Telephone and fax service will be unavailable on July 26; the phone and fax numbers will remain unchanged.
Aquament Co., Ltd. has released a teaser website for Hiroshima Motomachi Aquarium, an urban aquarium being developed in Motomachi, Naka Ward, Hiroshima City, with an opening planned for autumn 2025. The entertainment area in the same facility, Pacela, is also drawing attention as the Chugoku region's first food hall. Updates are planned for the aquarium's official social media and website.
