かつてビールづくりの町であったニューヨーク・ブルックリンで1988年創業。1980年代前半、スティーブ・ヒンディーはAP通信の記者として、中東に滞在していました。現地ではイスラム教信仰により飲酒はご法度。しかし、仲の良いサウジアラビアの外交官たちは実は熱心なビール職人で、いつもビールでもてなしてくれました。スティーブは、中東で出会った、この味わい深いビールに魅了されました。そしてアメリカに帰国後、ブルックリンで新聞の編集者として働きながら、自宅でビール製造を開始。その後、近所の銀行員トム・ポッターとともに設立したのが、ブルックリン・ブルワリーです。 |
