1941 技術者のマーティン・ヒルティ（1915～1997）と、兄のユージン（1911～1964）によってリヒテンシュタインのシャーンにて会社を設立。
1948
1964-11-20 ユージン・ヒルティが11月20日に53歳で死去。 優れたリーダーとして、シャーンにおける会社の拡大に大きく貢献。早すぎる死の直前まで、国家職業訓練委員会にも深く関与していた。
1967 ドイツ、ミュンヘン近くのカウフェリングにも製造拠点を開設し、世界中で製造拠点の新規設立が相次ぐ。
1968-04 1968年 4月　ヒルティ社日本国内総販売元「ヒルティ販売株式会社」設立
1971-04 1971年 4月　ドリル製品、アンカー製品販売開始
1973 ドイツ、ミュンヘンに新しく設立された開発センターにおいて、穿孔および取付技術、アンカーシステムを開発。 マーティン・ヒルティ・ファミリー財団の設立。
1973-12 1973年12月　社名を「日本ヒルティ株式会社」に変更
1982 ヒルティ設立者の1人、マーティン・ヒルティ8月19日に82歳で死去。
