1963年（昭和38年）3月の東京大学の卒業式で、茅誠司総長（当時）は卒業生向けて次のような言葉を送りました。 “小さな親切”を、勇気をもってやっていただきたい。そしてそれが、やがては日本の社会の隅々までを埋めつくすであろう親切というなだれの芽としていただきたい。 大学で学んだ様々な知識や教養を、ただ頭の中に百科事典のように蓄えておくだけでは立派な社会人とはなれません。 その教養を社会人としての生活の中に生かしていくには、やろうとすれば誰でもできる“小さな親切”を絶えず行っていくことが大切です。 “小さな親切”はバラバラな知識を融合させる粘着剤の役目を果たすのです |
