The oil storage terminal on Sint Eustatius, now operated as GTI Statia Terminals N.V., became operational in 1982, offering direct employment to about 140 islanders.
In July 2019, Prostar Capital completed its $250 million acquisition of the St. Eustatius oil storage terminal from NuStar Energy L.P., rebranding it as GTI Statia.
