Yoshizo Yamakawa and his son Toichi founded the Kondo Orimono mill in Warazono, Shin-asahi-cho, Takashima, and began manufacturing canvas.
Incorporated as Kondo Orimono Co., Ltd. with capital of 2 million yen; Ryukichi Yamakawa became representative director.
Established Asahi Gosen-i Co., Ltd. after spinning off part of the synthetic-fiber division.
Entered the synthetic-fiber belt business.
Established a joint-venture factory in Singapore (1979–1995).
Toji Yamakawa became representative director and president.
Obtained ISO 9001 certification.
Started a 5S improvement study group.
