This is a residence and mulberry house built by Tajima Yaei, who perfected the silk-rearing method "Seiryouiku" that emphasizes ventilation, in Bunki 3 (1863).
This is a government-owned silk manufacturing plant established by the Meiji government in Meiji 5 (1872).
In Meiji 16 (1883), Takayama Chōgorō established the silk-rearing method "Seioniku", which harmonizes ventilation and temperature control.
The following year, the silk-raising educational institution Takayama-sha, established in this area, spread the technique nationwide and overseas, making Seioniku the national standard for silk rearing.
The residence and mulberry house built in Meiji 24 (1891) had a structure optimal for Seioniku, and many trainees studied there.
It was built from Meiji 38 (1905) to Taisho 3 (1914).
It opened on November 15, Heisei 13 as an art museum primarily exhibiting Japanese paintings.
Hotel Metropolitan Takasaki will sell 2027 Osechi-ryori made with carefully selected ingredients. We offer a 4-inch two-tier Japanese-Western set (30 items total) for individuals, and a 6-inch set with selectable combinations. Reservations are accepted until December 24, 2026, and the products will be delivered at the banquet reservation salon on December 31. Limited quantities are available, and delivery is handled at JRE MALL.
