Takasago Hoken Service Co., Ltd.

Founder of Takasago Kōrō, Kaiso Kusaka, was born in Kyoto in May 1880 (Meiji 13).

In 1887 (Meiji 20), Kusakari enrolled in the Kyoto Prefectural Normal School Affiliated Elementary School, and after graduation, he entered Kyoto Prefectural First Junior High School.

In 1901 (Meiji 34), he enrolled in the Department of Pure Chemistry at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Kyoto Imperial University.

After graduating in 1904 (Meiji 37), he remained in the laboratory.

In 1906 (Meiji 39), he became an associate professor under Professor Kiyoshi Kihara, and while continuing his research, Kusakari gradually developed an interest in fragrances.

In September 1910 (Meiji 43), Kaisō Kusakari departed for Europe from Kobe.

In May 1911 (Meiji 44), Kusakari joined Graess.

In March 1912 (Meiji 45), Kusakari first entered a fragrance company in the suburbs of Geneva.

At the end of 1913 (Taisho 2), Kaisō Kusakari returned to Japan, settled in Tokyo, and began working at Marumiyaya.

In July 1914 (Taisho 3), World War I broke out, and its impact reached Japan's industrial sector.

In 1918 (Taisho 7), armistice negotiations began, turning the situation.

In July 1919 (Taisho 8), Kusakari resigned from Marumiyaya and established a fragrance company.

高砂香料株式会社設立

On February 9, 1920 (Taisho 9), Takagashi Fragrance Co., Ltd. was founded, and a factory was established in Kamata, where its headquarters are now. This marked the first step of Takagashi Fragrance, focused on the manufacture of synthetic fragrances.
