Japan Blockchain Foundation has launched the “Stablecoin Proof-of-Concept Partners” program to support the social implementation of stablecoins. Twenty-six operating companies, financial institutions, and local governments are participating to develop use cases based on real demand, including payments and remittances.
Japan Blockchain Foundation announced that Japan Open Chain’s testnet migration for the Tokyo Hardfork was completed as scheduled on September 7, 2026, at block height 19,431,670. The upgrade is described as the largest protocol upgrade since the network’s launch.
Japan Open Chain will begin a testnet migration for the Tokyo Hardfork on September 7. The upgrade is intended to move to a consensus mechanism nearly identical to Ethereum’s proof of stake, improve compatibility, and strengthen governance through on-chain validator management; mainnet migration is planned for November.
