General Incorporated Association Japan Food Culture National Conference

A study group was established for the registration of Japanese food culture as a world intangible heritage.

At the interministerial liaison meeting on the Convention for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage, it was decided to propose 'washoku; Japanese people's traditional food culture – using New Year's as an example –' as an intangible cultural heritage to UNESCO from Japan. In the same month, the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Promotion Council for Japanese food culture was established.

The UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Promotion Council for Japanese food culture established its secretariat and changed its name to 'Japan Food Culture National Conference for the Protection and Inheritance of Washoku' (abbreviated 'Washoku Conference').

At the 8th UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee on the Convention for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage held in Baku, Azerbaijan, the registration of 'washoku; Japanese people's traditional food culture – using New Year's as an example –' as UNESCO intangible cultural heritage was decided.

The Japan Food Culture National Conference for the Protection and Inheritance of Washoku was dissolved on March 31, 2015, and the establishment of the General Incorporated Association Japan Food Culture National Conference was decided.

The General Incorporated Association Japan Food Culture National Conference was established. On April 1, 2015, membership applications were opened to commence full-scale activities.
