C. Allen Harlan
Harlan Electric was contracted by the Detroit Economic Growth Association to install new lighting in four Detroit parks. The company built a trusted relationship with the city during its first project for DEGA, demonstrating strong electrical construction skills and deep community ties.
Harlan Electric rebuilt the S136 transmission line through state and federal public lands in New Hampshire’s White Mountains. The project involved challenging terrain, weather, regulatory requirements, energized work and public-use trails, and was completed ahead of schedule.
Kaleb Muhammad grew up in Detroit with an interest in physics and how things work. His summer experience repairing roofs and his technical interests led him to earn a mechanical engineering degree from Oakland University, and he now works at Harlan Electric as a field engineer.
Harlan Electric’s Rochester Hills district held its fifth annual Charity Golf Outing on June 12 at Mystic Creek Golf Club, benefiting Volunteers of America Michigan. Support from employees, sponsors, customers, friends, and family helped raise and donate more than $36,000 to support the organization’s work in local communities.
As utility needs shifted, Harlan Electric launched a live-line barehand program to support its utility partners. The company says listening to and understanding partners’ goals has helped sustain long-standing relationships, and in 2018 other MYR Group subsidiaries also began hearing that energized construction was the future.
NECA honored Harlan Electric and seven other MYR Group subsidiaries for their commitment to safety in a record-breaking year. Harlan Electric’s Harrisburg District was recognized with Safety Excellence and Zero Injury awards.
Roosevelt Park, once a welcoming sight for travelers arriving at Michigan Central Station, sat empty and deteriorating for decades before a city revitalization project began in 2022. Harlan Electric supported the park’s transformation by performing streetlight work in and around the park.
