白石温麺の発祥は古く、今から約400年も前に遡ります。白石城下に住んでいた鈴木味右ェ門は、胃を病み何日も食事をとれない父親のために、「何かいい食べ物はないか」と探していました。そんな時、旅の僧から油を使わずに小麦粉を塩水で練って作る製麺方法を教わり、その製法を用いて父親に食べさせたところ、次第に父親の体調がよくなり快方に向かいました。この親孝行話は時の白石城主片倉小十郎公に伝わり、心優しい孝行息子の暖かい思いやりをたたえて「温麺」と名付けられたと言い伝えられます。 |
